For Patients with Cataracts

Older patient reading comfortably after cataract surgery with an advanced trifocal lens

If cataracts make your vision cloudy or dull, surgery restores clarity. An advanced trifocal lens at the same time can also cut how often you reach for glasses.

I had implants with Dr Musa ten years ago. It was the best thing I've ever done. They are brilliant. My sight both near and distant was very poor but since the op I've had no glasses no lenses and my sight has been super. It remains really good to this day. Thank you Dr Musa. Brilliant consultations and treatment for glaucoma since.

I can highly recommend the Eye Doctor Clinic, and I am so pleased I went there. Dr Musa, Gemma and Jess are lovely. They are very knowledgeable and were able to answer all my questions. My vision following surgery is great, and not having to wear glasses is fantastic.

No. The eye is numbed with drops, so you feel mild pressure at most. Each eye takes about fifteen minutes and you go home the same day. Some grittiness for a few days afterwards is normal.

It depends on the lens. A monofocal lens is clear at one distance, so reading glasses are usually still needed. Trifocal lenses cover near, intermediate and distance, so most patients use glasses far less. Your consultant will explain what is realistic for your eyes.

Most patients see more clearly within a few days, though vision can take a few weeks to settle fully. You will use eye drops for a few weeks and attend a follow-up. Your consultant will advise on driving, exercise and swimming.

Yes. Both eyes are usually treated on separate days, so the first can settle and be checked before the second.

A monofocal lens is clear at one distance, usually far, so reading glasses are still needed. A trifocal lens covers near, intermediate and distance, so patients rely on glasses far less. Your consultant will help you choose.
